The Faculty of Development Studies is offering a unique course in Regional Development Planning and Management with a view to bridging the gap between specialisation in planning and practical management of development problems at the regional level.

Objectives of the Course
The main objective of the course is to create able personnel capable of regional planning at both the national and regional levels.

The course further aims at increasing the ability of participants to play an active and prominent role in planning for regional and district development, with emphasis on the problems of rural communities. The course is centred around the concept and problem of rural urban relations and is characterised by the continous establishment of links between theory, experience and planning practice. It has been designed to move progressively from the development of a conceptual and analytical framework, via a discussion of planning theory and techniques, to the practical application of both principles and techniques in planning in real world micro-region.
